Certifications and Qualifications

All technical staff members are COMPTIA+ certified. Every system engineer, technical manager and project manager is also Microsoft certified, from the Product level through MCITO, and all have college degrees.

The most junior technical staff member has at least two years of IT job experience. Netmender has personalized education enhancement programs for every member of every department.

Our History

Our Story

Netmender was founded in 1993.

Our first customer, Toll Road Investor’s Partnership, II/Dulles Greenway, is still an active client today.

Industry Partnerships

During the first decade, Netmender developed partnerships with most of the top-tier IT hardware and software companies, many of which continue to the present.

These included:

  3COM,  Apple,  Cisco,  DEC,  HP,  IBM,  Intel,  Microsoft,  Norton/Symantec,  Olicom, and  SCO

Manufacturing

Because of the specialized nature of the servers and workstations of many of Netmender’s customers, a partnership was formed with Intel to manufacture custom hardware solutions for the business environment.

These products included:

At one point, Netmender was the second-largest Intel IPD in the Mid-Atlantic region. Intel’s migration of all of their board manufacturing facilities to overseas locations eventually caused product latencies and QC issues that forced abandonment of manufacturing operations in favor of off-the-shelf Tier-1 systems that could be customized. The intimate knowledge of hardware systems – as well as how they play with operating systems, applications and networks – greatly enhanced the Netmender staff’s ability to provide enterprise-caliber solutions using readily available systems and components.

At Present

The closing of the production facility precipitated a major change in Netmender’s workplace. Developments in the IT industry had enabled Office Anywhere. Today, the company maintains a central office strategically located just south of Quantico, Virginia.  Most employees work remotely, allowing a better proximity to client locations.

All of the changes have resulted in dramatic overhead reductions, which allows Netmender to bring their IT skill sets to organizations of every size affordably. The current customer base ranges from startup operations to multi-site enterprises, many of which have been working with Netmender for more than a dozen years.

The Early Years

Work in the early years as an IT consulting services company included the following:

Congressional Country Club – Novell admin and network infrastructure support.

DSA – IT hardware and software consulting.

Dulles Greenway – Novell admin, Windows Server migration, VMWare migration, managed all aspects of IT services.

Fox and Associates Engineering – Windows Server migration, network and security installation and support, network admin support.

John McCain for President – Coordinated all facets of IT installations and operations at local and Arizona campaign offices.

McDermott International – Windows Server migration, provided all IT services for local office and acted as liaison to corporate IT department.

Minnieland Day Schools – Windows Server migration, VMWare migration, managed all aspects of IT services.

NASA-Goddard – Novell help desk and network support.

Naval Research Labs – Hardware consultant for high-end secure custom data collection workstations.

NTW National Headquarters – Windows Server migration, IT infrastructure overhaul, network security upgrades and network admin support.
